The Lost Squadron

In 1945, 8 aircraft (P-28 and B-17) landed on the icecap in Eastern Greenland.  The pilots and crewmembers were rescued, but the planes were left intact on the ice.  In 1992 one of the P-38 fighters was recovered by The Greenland Expedition Society.
